"Ropa vieja" means "old clothing" in English. When you hear it, what comes to mind?? Perhaps my clothes hanging outside on the line between windows on the 6th floor. This is exactly what I woke up to yesterday morning.
All my clothes hanging between my window and the laundry room on the 6th floor. |
But that's not what "ropa vieja" means here. It's actually a type of food. My Señora told me we were eating ropa vieja for dinner and she was laughing saying I'll definitely have to tell my family that I'm eating old clothing for dinner and they're all going to think I'm going to be dead by the end of this trip. However, the food was actually super tasty!
Haven't had a bad meal yet. Old clothing even tastes delicious. |
