Las Alpujarras

Last weekend, our entire group went on a trip to hike the Sierra Nevada mountains in a region called "Las Alpujarras." I'm actually surprised I didn't get car sick on the ride up and back, because the roads were more twisty than Nachreiner Hollow Road with one side of the road nearly a meter from a drop off, a biiiig drop off. Anyways, we hiked for about 6 hours both Friday and Saturday. Brought back memories from the Grand Canyon, however wasn't as BA as my trip with Mr. Hill. There were some amazing views, and we all had a good time sweating, hiking and finding creative ways to take pictures along the way.

Our tour guide. He was awesome and totally hard core, he hikes for his job every day with a bad knee.

Direct translation: Water from the high mountain. This stream brought the water down from the highest point of the mountain.

Definitely got chilly up there while we ate our lunch.

My dinner.
Miguel, our program director, had to cut it up for me obviously.

His teeth were so little and cute.

Many of the villages up in the mountains were actually above the clouds...

Again, above the clouds.

Our group (minus me).

If you look closely, there is a little trail in the middle of this picture, the rest of the group is standing there, but may be hard to see.

Reminded me of the Grand Canyon. The stack of rocks in the Grand Canyon is called a "duck," and means that you are heading in the right direction. The two lines in Las Alpujarras signifies you are also going in the right direction for the 'red' path in this picture. If you are heading in the wrong direction, the two lines (white and red) make an X.

With our program director, Miguel.

As you can see, he's pretty awesome!

It was definitely a fun, active weekend away. Next weekend starts me 10-day trip to Italy, Austria and Germany again. I get to meet up with Marina again. :) :) Thanks for reading!
