Last weekend was my first full weekend of staying in Granada since I arrived, so I finally caught up on sleep and rested. However, on Saturday a friend and I went to the Science Museum, which is actually a Science Park since it takes up an entire city block, and we followed it up by going to the Arab baths.
The Science Museum/Park consists of both indoor and outdoor exhibits. We started outdoors, which included a giant game of chess (well we played checkers with chess pieces), connect four, seeing extinct species of birds flying (and eating a baby chicken whole in just one gulp), going to the butterfly exhibit, seeing an olive oil mill and the list goes on and on... The Science Park in Granada is ginormous, and of course very informative. The indoor exhibits consisted of many rooms with different subjects: optical illusions, safety, the human body (which was of course my favorite), astronomy, etc.
Evolution Room. (I believe it was Darwin's room.) |
The butterfly room was similar to a green house, filled with plants, ponds and butterflies of all species.
Luckily I have some family members that can iron work, because this thing was awesome. Maybe a future grandchild's present? |
There was a tower in the middle of the park that you could walk up to see the beautiful view of Granada, mountains and all.
The famous equation that I know so well. It brought me back to high school Physics. |
We had a little too much fun with this being 21 years old. |
I could have spent all day here, but (un)fortunately we had an appointment with the Arab baths, aka the spa, for the afternoon. The Arab baths we went to consisted of 7 different pools, 6 warm/hot and one cold (ice cold). We were told to go back and forth between the cool and warm pools for an hour, and all that was followed up by a massage. Now you want to talk about relaxing, I actually fell asleep in one of the pools. Needless to say, I enjoyed my relaxing weekend!
This weekend... Córdoba and Sevilla.
